Google local search results now include images of the place searched for. These images are fetched from Google's Panoramio and every local search contains a grid of 6 images.
Click on any of the images and you will get the map of the place along with the photos as a layer.
This is surely an improvement of the local search results. However, not all results bring images and since the images are user-submitted, there are chances that they are fake. This new feature gives Bing a run for its local search feature which is also very good at showing images and maps at the same time.
